Having a choice can be incredibly powerful, and having personal agency over your surroundings can be life changing. Unfortunately this is something that many people don’t regularly experience. Second Dawn Brewing aims to change this and give people the opportunity to drink a variety of beverages in an environment that encourages people to sit and relax and enjoy the space—the way they want to experience it.

How often do you experience feelings of inclusion, connection, or comfort within the buildings you enter? How often do you feel that your space supports your wellbeing and creates a place of calm? These were just a few of the questions we asked over 3,000 students within the Physical Sciences Department of CU Boulder when approaching the redesign of their Academic Advising Center.

Located in the Whittier neighborhood of Denver, CO, this project is an interior renovation of an existing 2,000 sf commercial building into a photography studio and gallery. Built in the early 1900’s the existing building contained lots of character, including the existing exposed load bearing brick walls. Renovations were completed throughout the life of the building, with the last renovation included adding a structural beam and support columns that were painted red. This structural element visually separated the main space into two elements.

How can you create space for yourself and your community within a busy, and at times, overwhelming life? The answer at Gamer’s Heaven is pretty simple - through games. Gamers Heaven strives to create a comfortable, welcoming, and inclusive space to game and hang out with your fellow gamers.
